Album Description

The Thief grew out of my Storytellers initiative, where I had the joy of collaborating with writer Michael Schofield on his low-fantasy mystery world. Together we explored Symphony’s grim journey, and I brought those themes into music—working alongside wonderful musicians Ben Trigg and Daniel Chouinard on cello, and Jory Lane on violin.

This album is a thematic exploration: the same motifs woven, bent, and re-imagined across different moods, always returning to the story at its heart. It was made to live inside Michael’s world, but it’s now here for any storyteller, game master, or dreamer to step into and make their own.

Meet the Storyteller

Michael Schofield is the creator of The Thief, an award-winning low-fantasy audio drama that blends D&D actual play with fully scripted production, a full voice cast, and immersive soundscapes. His work follows Symphony, a young pickpocket drawn into a mystery of missing nobles and city intrigue.

Outside ofThe Thief, Michael is a writer, producer, and technologist who shares essays and behind-the-scenes commentary through his Substack and Medium. He’s passionate about storytelling as a craft—whether through audio drama, interactive design, or essays on the creative process

Common Questions

Licensing & Usage FAQ

Everything you need to know before using my music in your projects.

Is the music totally free?
Yes — free tracks are tagged as free and yours to use as long as you credit me as the composer. Check the license info page for proper attribution details.
How do I credit you?
Simply name Ivan Duch as the composer wherever the music is used — in video descriptions, credits screens, show notes, etc. Full attribution guide here.
What is royalty-free music?
Royalty-free means you pay once (or in this case, just credit me) for a license to use the music — not on a per-use basis. You're free to use it across multiple projects.
What rights do I get?
A non-exclusive license to use the music in your projects. You may not redistribute or sell the tracks as standalone audio files or albums.
What are Stems?
Stems are individual instrument tracks (brass, woodwinds, percussion, etc.) from a song. They let you mix the music to fit your scene. Stems are available for Patrons.
Do you offer exclusive licenses?
Yes. If you need original, exclusive music for a film, game, or other project, visit the commissions page. Terms can be tailored to your project's needs.
Can I use the music without crediting you?
Attribution is required on every license — credit Ivan Duch as the composer wherever attribution is possible. The only exception is media where attribution isn’t practical (live podcasts, live events), where it may be omitted. Contact me if you need a special arrangement.
Is there a written license?
Yes — you can find the full written license on the licensing page. It protects you if someone ever falsely claims the music. See the copyright page for more.
