Bloodpunk: a Dark and Ominous Soundtrack

Collaborations News Projects

I am truly excited to announce that I am putting the final touches on a brand-new soundtrack for DRS Publishing. This time, it’s for one of their latest projects, Bloodpunk. If you’re not familiar with Bloodpunk, it’s a dark and dystopic Dungeons & Dragons setting where blood is used as the main source of energy.

This mysterious world, known as Tolia, is filled with danger and atrocities at every turn, and the people are forced to live under the tyrannical rule of one of the two cities; Kanrath or Cyherested.

In this world, blood is used to power trains, zeppelins, radios, bloodwork weapons, boats, and factories, and the people are often forced to fuel these machines with their own flesh and blood. It’s a truly unique and intriguing setting, and I was honored to be able to create the music for it.

I wrote a total of 10 songs for Bloodpunk, focusing on the sound of strings and using the cello and violin to create a victorian feel. I first wrote themes for each specific faction, so when listening to the soundtrack you’ll find that the same themes or melodies repeat themselves and transform depending on how the action changes.

It was a challenging but rewarding process, and I’m confident that the music I created will enhance the gameplay experience for those who choose to delve into the world of Tolia.

In addition to the victorian feel, I also aimed for a jazz aesthetic for the city of Cyherested. The music for this city is meant to convey a sense of sophistication and refinement, with a hint of rebellion and edginess. I wanted to capture the feeling of a city that is full of secrets and hidden agendas, where the wealthy and powerful have a lot of influence and control.

The music for Kanrath, on the other hand, is meant to convey a sense of raw power and strength. The city is ruled by vampires, and the music reflects this with a darker, more ominous sound. It’s meant to convey the feeling of a city that is always on the brink of war, where danger lurks around every corner.

If you’re interested in Bloodpunk, the Kickstarter campaign has already ended, but you can still make a late pledge by visiting the project page here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/corpusmalicious/bloodpunk-a-victorian-setting-and-a-dark-adventure-for-5e. I highly recommend supporting DRS Publishing and diving into Bloodpunk – it’s a truly unique and immersive setting that I’m sure you’ll enjoy.

I also want to give a big shoutout to DRS Publishing for giving me the opportunity to work on this project and be a part of the Bloodpunk team. Their work is truly amazing and I’m grateful to have had the chance to collaborate with them. Be sure to check out their other products and support them at https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/13543/Dream-Realm-Storytellers.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you’ll consider supporting Bloodpunk and DRS Publishing. It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with them, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this inspiring project.
